The ground-level tufts of Berkheya herbacea leaves are lance-shaped to spoon-shaped, tapering gradually to the base. The spreading leaves have lateral margins curving up, the tips pointed or rounded.

Strong plants sometimes have alternating stem leaves as well, reducing in size upwards and subtending branches in the inflorescence.

Leaf dimensions are up to 20 cm long and 5 cm wide (Manning, 2007; Burman and Bean, 1985; iNaturalist).
