The stalked flowers of Drosanthemum floribundum grow solitary. Five or six leaf-like calyx lobes enclose the bud.
The round-tipped petals spread, usually by midday in one or two whorls. The flower colour is purple, usually in darker shades. In the absence of staminodes the white-anthered stamens in the flower centre do not cohere in a cone, the flowers self-fertile. Abundant spring flowering may last into early summer.
The light-coloured fruit capsules have five or six locules. There are valve wings and expanding keels but no closing bodies (Smith, et al, 2017; Smith, et al, 1998; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
