The well-rounded Dioscorea elephantipes leaves seen here are characterised by deeply lobed base and mucronate tip (tiny, hair-like protrusion). They grow on a vine contrasting against the dark black and grey caudex below it. Dioscorea leaves alternate up the stems, their stalks presenting the blades to face the sunlight.
Other vine-like stems bearing thread-like leaves belong to an Asparagus plant keeping the Dioscorea company (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Wikipedia).
