The brush-like Didelta spinosa disc florets are turning brown from yellow at the end of the flowerhead’s heydays. Disappearing rays present something of both surfaces to the camera, the lower one about white, the upper in the browning stage.

The bracts still flourish in bright yellow green, appearing polished smooth like the leaves. Spiny mucros at the tips are intact, no trespassers skewered upon them (yet). The margins are gracefully curved down as smoothness prevails.
