The open disc florets of Didelta spinosa spread their five, narrow, pointed lobes in graceful curves over the funnel-shaped tubes forming the bases of their corollas.
Whatever is carried inside in the form of stamens and styles is difficult to see among the all-yellow floret parts. The outer disc florets in a Didelta flowerhead are fertile, comprising both male and female parts. The inner ones near the centre, probably some of those still closed in picture, may be only male (Manning, 2007).
