In picture, the Didelta carnosa var. carnosa flowerheads have three triangular involucral bracts in the outer row. These bracts fold in erectly around the flowerhead bud, while spreading horizontally around the open flowerhead. The outside surfaces of these bracts appear greener, the inner ones grey from faint, pale hairiness. The inner row of bracts is smaller, here inconspicuous.

The flowerhead has a flat, deeply pitted receptacle at its base. The ray florets of Didelta species are infertile, their disc florets bisexual. The anthers are arrow-shaped at the base with lance-shaped appendages at the tips. Flowerheads become 4 cm to 7 cm in diameter (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
