Dimorphotheca pluvialis, commonly the rain daisy, ox-eye daisy or in Afrikaans witbotterblom (white butter flower), is an erect or sprawling annual reaching heights from 10 cm to 40 cm. The plant is sparsely hairy, the hairs gland-tipped.
The species is distributed from the Cape Peninsula northwards in a broad coastal swathe to southern Namibia and eastwards to the southern Cape as far as Riversdale.
The habitat is sandy and clayey flats and slopes receiving winter rain. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
