Diosma hirsuta flower

The about bell-shaped flower of Diosma hirsuta angles its five ovate and pointed, white petals out and up. The angular disc in the base of the corolla cup is five-pointed and flatly cog-shaped.

The five spreading stamens arise from the disc edge, over the gaps between the petals where the short, pointed sepal tips are present. The stamens are slightly shorter than the petals. The thickish, fleshy, white filaments are straight, tapering slightly to their tips. The globular, pale brown anthers are two-lobed, each with a gland at its tip.

Some of the linear, out-curving leaves below the flower are channelled, others flat. The thin, elongated leaf-tips are mostly soon dry.

The upper stem in picture below the flower is creamy yellow (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
