The stout flower stalk of Disa versicolor, pale green from floral bracts among its ample covering of tiny flowers, appears dominant with flowers so small. The tepal (mainly sepal) colouring may have dulled already on flowers nearing the end of their season (the lower ones go first), but there is still charm. Petals are small and obscure on these flowers.

The plant was photographed in January when the summer growing grassland had reached its mature height, boosted by sufficient rain for a good season. Still, the flowers are presented well above the grass for pollinators and photographers to spot.

The address of this plant is "somewhere in the foothills of the southern Drakensberg, west of Underberg" (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; iSpot).
