    Seen from the side the hood of the Disa aconitoides subsp. aconitoides flower shows its rounded frontal lobe protruding over the flower face. The floral bracts that grow as long as the flowers are visible below the flower lips, their reflexed, brown, withered-looking tips, narrowly pointed.

    Speckles upon the spur are faint, while bright upon the central stalk and the ovary bases, coloured darkly purple, nearly black. The few lateral sepals in view are variously curved, accentuating their oblique shapes. The stigma is flat, horizontal and about square in shape (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; iSpot).
