The few bright green leaves borne by a Disa stachyoides plant sheathe the stem and end in acutely pointed tips. The leaves are erect and somewhat spreading. In picture the leaves show entire margins, keeled or in-folded blades that undulate slightly. Leaves decrease in size up the stem, grading into the floral bracts. A leaf becomes 8 cm long and 1 cm wide (Pooley, 1998; www.sntc.org.sz).
