Disa bifida bracts

The bract around the base of the Disa bifida flower ovary is small and ovate to lanceolate in shape. It folds around the pedicel, leaving most of the curving ovary exposed; the bract tip is acutely pointed.

The bracts seen here are pale and faintly purple spotted. The ridges of the ovary are lined purple along the greenish cream surfaces. There are bluish purple vein lines on the outer sepal surfaces. The lip tooth on the desiccating lower flower has lost its dark colouring, as well as its vertical position (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
