Last summer’s fruit capsule can be seen maturing slowly. Some older dry seed capsules from previous seasons are also scattered among the branches. They may be ready to open their valves for releasing their crop of small brown seeds. Or they may have already done so (Manning, 2007; Smith, et al, 1998).
