Delosperma ecklonis, sometimes called bright eyes, is a mat-forming to sprawling shrublet. The reddish to yellow-green stems in picture are well visible due to long internodes between the opposite or whorled, succulent leaves. The plant has narrowly elliptic leaves, triangular in cross-section, sometimes with only a rounded central thickening of the lower leaf surface and not a sharp keel. The leaf tapers to tip and base and has a glossy green surface.

The solitary flowers are small and pinkish purple. A bunch of yellow anthered stamens is erect in the flower centre (Smith, et al, 1998; www.paghat.com).
