This Erica discolor plant is doing very well on its stony slope in the Little Karoo. The species surprises with the flower colour range that includes several shades of red and pink with yellow or white on bands of variable width at the perianth tips.

The south coast and slightly inland distribution range from Bettys Bay to Humansdorp is long and narrow, increasing the probability of variations to be found on the plants encountered (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
