Farmhouse among the spring flowers

Low human population density helps to preserve the Namaqualand natural treasure of plants. The farmers have mostly learnt to live off the land whilst sustaining it for future generations. 

Tourists have, of course, become very welcome, especially in the famous Namaqua flowering season, to become short-term stakeholders in this heritage. The observant and caring ones become temporary conservation partners by living lightly while they are here.
