Schlechteranthus albiflorus unusual leaf-pairs

Schlechteranthus albiflorus has a distinctive leaf-shape, each leaf-pair joined in a column below that splits halfway up into two chubby, spreading upper leaf halves facing up with fine lines along margins and keel (Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
