    Conicosia pugioniformis subsp. alborosea may be abundant on the sandy flats in the west of Namaqualand. The plant grows from a thin taproot, producing prostrate branches from the base of its central leaf rosette to form a group of such rosettes in a loose, spreading cluster. The flowers vary in colour from nearly white to shades of yellow.

    C. elongata, the other Conicosia species that also occurs in Namaqualand and bears similar flowers, grows from a thick, tuberous root (Frandsen, 2017; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971).
