The Jamesbrittenia breviflora flowers are mostly on a level with the grass flowers and seeds, only the early season flowers benefit from the grass still being short. Corolla colour and wind see to flower detection by pollinators when the grass is long. Maybe mountain slopes and rocks contribute to these flowers not too often being missed by the hungry that serve in redistributing their pollen.

“Hopefully prudently” doesn’t come into the reckoning about pollinator skills here: it’s the number of visitors and visits that see to efficiency levels (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
