A solitary chat on a social everlasting in the Drakensberg. Looking good. The female buffstreaked chat resting by the Helichrysum trilineatum bush is comfortable, used to the fact that there are only low shrubs to sit on, no tall trees here.
It is best that people visit the far-off places and the tall mountains respectfully, leaving the least signs of their presence behind. There is a social life going on continuously here, but like anatomy looking better on some people, some places look better occupied by the species traditionally associated with them.
Chicken Man used to be everywhere, but the legacy one leaves does not have to be names painted on mountain rock, plastic lying around or concrete ruins left as obstacles for the plants. There is a better way to remind that humanity occasionally had an aesthetic sense. And no embellishment of nature would contribute to saying it well.
