Grewia flava grey-green leaves

The oblong, round-tipped leaves of Grewia flava are held aloft stiffly by their short petioles. The plant was seen in the north of Limpopo, in the valley of the eponymous river.

Marginal leaf toothing is fine in this case to negligible, the blades pale grey-green with not too much visible of their veining. Three veins from the base as expected are followed by spaced, parallel, ascending ones higher up.

The orange-brown fruit, an edible drupe, is nearly spherical, two-lobed. It becomes 8 mm in diameter (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 2002; iNaturalist).
