Phylica axillaris stem-tip leaves and flowers

Phylica axillaris grows among scrub and along forest margins, producing flowers here in May. This may also happen at many other times during the year.

Plants that exceed standard annual flowering seasons often receive rain to do so. Rain in the western part of its distribution area is received in winter, in the eastern part during summer. This plant has different blooming seasons on record, even flowering at any time during the year but not necessarily doing so every year.

The fruit capsule is the size of a pea, oval or spherical in shape.
