Nature itself may die!

Since the Industrial Revolution humanity tends to consume its environment, discarding disgusting leftovers all over the place. Rather than being part of the environment like their ancestors, who fought nature for survival from a disadvantaged position in a fairly honourable struggle. Mass production has changed all that, changed the nature of human society.

Fortunately some people remember that the earth is finite, that their grandchildren need an earth too and that biodiversity is key to all life on earth. Unfortunately love of money is on the rise from a high base and nothing stops economic growth from the aspirations of so many.

The good news is that conservation is also alive in the minds and actions of many people. Conservation takes many forms from being careful with resources and waste management in the home, to safeguarding the last unspoilt spots on earth. The Magaliesberg Biosphere is one such venture.

The bad news is that some believe the alternative logic that pollution isn’t serious, that population growth is immaterial to the wellbeing of all species (including humanity itself) and that climate change is a myth.

Which force will win this struggle? Think it through and make a difference!
