Huernia transvaalensis in the Rhenosterspruit Conservancy

Found on a rocky ridge in Gauteng grassland, this was thought to be Huernia hystrix. The flower of that species is characterized by hairy protuberances along the upper petal surface, which this plant lacks. More likely to be H. transvaalensis.
