These brightly coloured flowers are thought to be Heliophila africana. Sometimes a paler blue and varying in width, these petals have noticeable vein lines radiating a touch from base to margin. The thin petals are nearly flat and spreading, slightly uneven and mostly concave above. The white patch at the corolla base is shaped like a four-leaflet clover leaf, olive-green in its lower parts.

The six stamens are erect in a bunch, obscuring the style. Their dull beige anthers are oblong with tips bend inwards as if in gossipy conversation.

The plant is sometimes commonly called sand flax (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
