    The five maroon and hairy stigmas at the tips of the thread-like Hibiscus aethiopicus var. ovatus style branches are the most eye-catching feature of the flower in picture.

    Below them many yellow anthers are visible at the filament tips that protrude horizontally from the erect, cylindrical staminal tube.

    The five obovate to wedge-shaped petals overlap anticlockwise around the flower centre where the reproductive parts of both sexes are vertically arranged (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
