Hesperantha falcata Little Karoo colony

A stand of slender Hesperantha falcata plants in bloom at Minwater illustrates how dainty herbs can perform repeatedly at bloomtime in the rough and rocky environment of the Little Karoo.

The yellow-flowering form of H. falcata used to be called H. lutea. Lutea is a form of the Latin word, luteus, meaning yellow (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
