    Exceeding expectations is generally a happy position to be in. Hoodia gordonii plants may flower copiously even when the rains haven’t been that special. Its stems are ready reservoirs of the good juices required when stirrings inside suggest boundless spring blooming.

    Corollas in many flowering plants are banners for waving in the breeze to attract attention in the appropriate circles. Flies are known for their sense of smell and related navigational skills.

    Sight must play a role in their homing behaviour onto the carrion-scented flowers of many Apocynaceae family succulents that offer so much in looks as well (White and Sloane, 1937; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
