Helichrysum rosum well-watered at Minwater

After rain, Helichrysum rosum plants may turn notably greener. Seen in May at the Minwater farm in the Oudtshoorn district, these leaves look more like it as a palatable fodder, a quality they are known for.

The narrow blades, ascending or erect, have margins markedly rolled under, their upper surfaces convex. Velvety short hairs are always present, but not succeeding in rendering the leaves near white on this new leaf growth, like the stems still are. The soft stems also appear pleasantly eatable, that is from a sheep's point of view (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
