The thin Helichrysum zeyheri stems may grow small side-branches, angled erectly in their upper parts, allowing for several inflorescences to appear close together from one long stem, all facing up.
Before opening, the involucres are sometimes pinkish, turning white with age. These stem-tip flowerhead clusters are compact, some heads in each cluster opening some florets concurrently, while others take turns in a sequence for an extended season.
Foliage is sparse upon the stems, the flowerheads numerous, usually seen in summer but here also in May (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist).
