This Helichrysum trilineatum plant seen in Lesotho is flourishing among rocks of the Maluti Mountains. While it can flower all year round, a special flower fest is more likely from late winter through summer. The variable, oblong leaves may be either glabrous or woolly. When the latter the plants are grey. The green form lacking in indumentum is less protected against winter snow.
The three notable vein lines that give the plant its specific name, trilineatum, are usually clear to see on the lower leaf surfaces (iNaturalist; JSTOR; https://keys.lucidcentral.org).
