By April the last summer's cluster of dry Helichrysum petiolare flowerheads have disintegrated in their softer, floret parts. The involucral bracts, narrowly pointed, papery and brown have remained, spread widely. The disc florets have morphed into seeds and mainly disappeared from the dark central patches of the heads in the photo (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
