Seen from below the compound Heteromorpha arborescens var. abyssinica leaf is pale. Its midrib and lateral veins are prominent here, while the fine reticulated venation is just visible in the pale green of the blades.
The terminal trio of leaflets is commonly seen, whereas the double leaflets lower down, as present in the photo, are less common, here present on only one side of the leaf (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993).
