Haworthia arachnoidea var. aranea is a form of H. arachnoidea with about uniform dark green leaf colour. It has leaf keels and margins covered with soft hairs. This plant is smaller than var. arachnoidea, the rosette only reaching about 6 cm in diameter. Branching into multiple rosettes rarely happens in this variety.
Aranea means cobweb or spider in Latin. The distribution of the variety is in the Little Karoo from Calitzdorp to the Kammanassie and northwards into the Swartberg Mountains (iSpot; http://haworthia-gasteria.blogspot.co.za).
