Hermannia cristata calyces

The hairy calyx of the Hermannia cristata flower nods from the long pedicel that is equally hairy. The hairs in picture appear glandular.

The calyx is cup-shaped, ending in five pronounced, acutely pointed lobes. It covers about the narrower back half of the corolla. The calyx surface is brownish, faintly ridged along the seams of the lobes. The segments are about 15 mm long (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; iNaturalist).
