    From the top, the Habenaria barbertoni inflorescence displays the green and white colouring well on the outward facing flowers. The dull green ovary ending in the dorsal sepal creates a snake-like image that doesn’t alarm, as the spreading lateral sepals, white petals and lip confirm the floral effect.

    The greenest visible parts are the bracts and some bits of spur (Lowrey and Wright, 1987; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; JSTOR).
