Yellow-green colouring in the petals and lip of Habenaria laevigata flowers distinguish them from the leafy bracts around them. The petals are simple, up to 8,5 mm long, adhering to the sides of the dorsal sepal, the hood that is greener, as are the pair of curved lateral sepals down the sides.

The three oblong lip lobes are on display, the central, longer one erect in front of the flower column. The thread-like spur of the flower becomes longer than the ovary, up to 3,5 cm, but is mostly shielded by the bracts. The flowers exude a faint, sweet fragrance (Liltved and Johnson, 2012; Pooley, 1998).
