The reflexed silvery green sepal surfaces of the Habenaria nyikana subsp. nyikana flower resemble a cloak, at the point of being discarded by a many-limbed arachnoid, lighter coloured than its suspected dark intent.
The column in the centre of the multiple floral limbs houses several parts vital to seed production. There are anthers at the top, a three-lobed rostellum (separating the sexes), two of which are the white protruding arms in the centre and a pair of green sticky pad-like (female) parts below, positioned above the three-lobed pointy lip (www.orchidspecies.com).
