In profile the Habenaria transvaalensis flower shows its central lip lobe and the spur that disappears behind the floral bract as conspicuous, large parts. These two diverge below the flower, while the dorsal sepal is notable above it, continuing a similar ridged appearance as the ovary behind it.
The green flower components are the bract, the ovary and the three sepals, while the bilobed petals, trilobed lip and column are all white. The spur in picture starts off white near its base, adding a little green on the way down (www.africanorchids.dk; www.orchidspecies.com).
