Gerbera linnaei leaves

The fern-like leaves of Gerbera linnaei grow in an erect to spreading tuft. They are long and narrow, deeply or shallowly incised in a column of similar, rounded and twisting lobes with margins rolled under. The lobes on the sides of the midrib or rachis are mostly semi-opposite in a neat array, sometimes turned up at their lower ends. The lobe at the tip is arrow-shaped to triangular with rounded angles.

The leaves are nearly hairless on their upper surfaces, yellow-felted to brownish below. The bright green to dark green upper surfaces may be glossy, occasionally wrinkled.

Leaf dimensions are from 10 cm to 30 cm long, from 0.8 cm to 2 cm wide and the petiole from 2.5 cm to 10 cm long (Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Kidd, 1983; iNaturalist; www.gerbera.org).
