Rhynchopsidium pumilum many flowers

Rhynchopsidium pumilum is wont to excessive floral revels in the peak seasons of Namaqualand daisy abundance.

In the years when this growth is at its most exuberant, the multitude of closely clustered heads often belong to several plants. Their decumbent stems spread and overlap in a tangle of branches bent upon flower presentation to the sun.

This comes about when good winter rain is followed by copious seed germination among the annuals at home here. Dense mixed or monocoloured flower colonies result, such as this very yellow one in the Biedouw Valley in September (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
