Linzia glabra leaves

The simple leaves of Linzia glabra alternate up the stems on short stalks or sessile. The leaf-shape is oblong to linear, the tip rounded and the base tapering.

The blades are smooth, although from the photo one wouldn’t pick that as their defining feature. The specific name, glabra, is derived from the Latin word glaber meaning smooth, referring to the leaves.

The prominent midrib is whitish; some lateral veins ascend from the midrib and curve in, not reaching the margins. The margins are serrated or toothed. Leaf dimensions are 6 cm to 12 cm long by 1,5 cm to 2,5 cm wide (iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
