A Limeum africanum subsp. africanum flower has five sepals and five petals, the sepals more conspicuous than the petals. The open flower diameter is about 7 mm. The ovate, point-tipped sepals are concave, white with dull green, triangular central bands visible on both surfaces. The white petals are small around the bright yellow anthers.
Flowering happens from before midwinter to early spring (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
