In this young Strelitzia reginae inflorescence the first flower has become erect from the green spathe. Its upper two orange sepals are already up, the third to follow the three blue petals that are together and rising, smaller than the sepals. The flower has five stamens and an inferior ovary (below the sepals), comprising three locules.
The tip of a clasping bract is visible below the flower on the peduncle (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
