This old Caesia contorta flower already shows tepal damage and partial collapse of the stamens. Its style persists rigidly and impressively though, appearing like a direct extension of the pedicel behind, no deviation. The lower half is dark blue to purplish, matching the colour on remaining filament parts.

The green ovary at its base is easier to discern than the minute stigma up top, slightly whiter than the upper style part. The pedicel seems bent at its base where it emerges from the bract (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
