Monopsis lutea has narrowly elliptic leaves with toothed margins that overlap on the thin stems and ascend or point upwards. The leaf tips are rounded or pointed. In picture the blades are pale green.

The leaves are sometimes oriented along the upper sides of stems, although this specimen, photographed in Jonkershoek in March does not show that (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005).
