From behind, the flower of Sesamum alatum shows its narrow corolla base, finely longitudinally striped and hairy. The green calyx is tiny and narrow-lobed, the short flower stalk emerging from the leaf axil also visible.

Tiny black-ringed, gland-like growths are visible next to the flower stalks; maybe external nectaries. The narrow leaves have margins that aren’t straight here but not toothed either. The stem is ridged and changes colour dramatically in the short section in picture (Pooley, 1998; Onderstall, 1996; Germishuizen and Fabian, 1982; iNaturalist).
