    Seen from behind, the Foveolina dichotoma flowerhead is markedly indented around the tip of the green peduncle that is finely hairy, faintly longitudinally lined and widening perceptibly to meet the head.

    One row of incurved, oblong bracts dominates the back-end view of the head. They are pale grey-green, covered in soft hairs. Closer inspection reveals uneven presence of a second row of green bracts, as well as one or maybe two rows of less visible, inner, membranous bract tips, thinner and papery against the delicate floret surfaces.

    Only few yellow florets are open yet on the border of the disc, where the opening always starts (Le Roux, et al, 2005).
