Commelina benghalensis floral pair

In these two Commelina benghalensis flowers the two big, clawed petals are angled away from the stamens and opposite the small, concave petal on the other side of the ovary. The three pale-coloured sepals sag lower than the petals.

The pair of blue-tipped staminodes seem longer than the four fertile, yellow-anthered stamens in each flower, one of which is slightly larger-anthered and taller. The style matches the staminodes in length, curving in unison with them (Pooley, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; Bean and Johns, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
