The flowers of Cylindrophyllum comptonii grow solitary on short pedicels at stem-tips. They are creamy white to dull straw-yellow, opening at noon and closing in the evening.
There are five fleshy sepals below the petals, uneven as some are slightly larger and keeled. The petals angle up and out in more than one series, the flower diameter about 4 cm.
The flower centre where numerous stamens are erect tends to be slightly darker, in picture dull orange. Staminodes are present around the stamens, forcing something of a cone-shape. The stigmas are awl-shaped, shorter than the stamens.
Flowering happens in spring, sometimes into early summer (Frandsen, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
